YOUR WEDNESDAY MORNING DEVOTION!

FEAR NOT!
Part 1
by

Bernie Lutchman

You can feel the fear. You get into your car on the way to work, look down at the Fuel gauge and you have just enough gas to get to the end of the street! You then pull out your wallet, your credit card is maxed, pay day is 3 days away and you have $6.50! A gallon of gas will get you work and back for two days, if you keep the air conditioning off and drive below the speed limit, keep the car parked all day and run no errands.

So you drive down to the local Mobil/Exxon station and put $6.52 in (at $3.93 per gallon). The clerk puts in the other two pennies for you as you sheepishly thank him. You jump back into the car with your head down, wondering "how in the world did it come to this?"!!!

Here you are making a good salary, living what you thought was the American dream.  Driving a half decent car, which no one could envy and have the required wife, low interest home mortgage and 2.7 kids...you've done all you can and still, you feel helpless. What should you do? What are you to think?

What would YOU think? What should you think?
For today, meditate on these short passages on Scripture from the Psalms. Read them through once. Then pray each verse back to our God and ask Him to reveal Himself to you and then teach you while you sit still and let Him!! This is the beginning of winning our way out of this mess and beginning to see with His eyes as well!! This is the only way to persevere in times like these, when we begin to feel trapped or in the middle of a tailspin all around us. God did NOT design us to think or live like this, which is the reason He gave us His Word!

Psalm 27

A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
      so why should I tremble?
2 When evil people come to devour me,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
      they will stumble and fall.
3 Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
   Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident. 4 The one thing I ask of the Lord
      the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
      delighting in the Lord’s perfections
      and meditating in his Temple.
 5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.

I could appreciate this post in so many different ways! I have found myself in similiar situations...of nearly running out of fuel and knowing I basically have hardly enough money to buy enough gas to get home, with no money coming in a few more days. I was a stay at home mother of a then, three year old, my husband furiously selling medical supplies. Life is sometimes a battle, but it's so important to know that the war has already been won and that victory is the Lord's. Justice prevails and Love never fails.

By the grace of God I haven't had one of those moments in awhile, but I pray unceasingly for those that continue to, and those that will. May our hearts always be attentive to the needy and suffering. I love the Psalm you gave at the end :) I hope this wasn't too long of a comment! ~ blessings

Jessica!

Blessings to you in all the Ways only the Lord Jesus can!!! Thank you for first, reading the post and taking the time to comment!! Am so happy to hear from anyone who reads them! I can tell from the stats that people or, but until there is a testimony to the power and provision of God, it really brings home the blessing of the entire exercise!

Secondly, I followed your blog because your writing is very poignant and full of the Spirit of God! Would you allow me to repost some of those thoughtful pieces in the future? If you look through my blog, you will see most of the devotionals are written by other friends of mine...and they are all women, for some reason! I try to post as much as possible, but I also run a website for our men's ministry (www.businessmeninchrist.com) and work a full time job, put out a newsletter every two weeks and post a weekly message.

Would you mind taking a look at this from my Scribd account? I see you're a mom as well!!

Finally, and I sometimes like to write too much!!Haha ..I used to live in Hartford, Ct from 1990-93 @ 967 Asylum Avenue on the 6th floor..just before it got bad there! I worked for Ct Chief Justice in the Speeding ticket division first on 75 Elm Street and then Wethersfield!! After my wife and I had our first child, we moved back to Illinois to be closer to her family!!

So hi former neighbor!! :-)) God bless you!!! Where do you go to church there?! We couldn't find a good church back then so we went to Immanuel Congregational and started the Sunday school for kids there where we taught the bible to the same 22 kids for almost 3 years!! Best ministry we had in the 1990's!!

blessings and glad you like the Psalm!! Psalm 27:4 is my life verse!
