PRAY...FOR BIKERS? YES! THIS SUMMER SEASON

MAY IS WOMEN'S RIDING MONTH!

The wonderful thing about being a praying Christian woman or man of God is this: we can pray anywhere at anytime for anyone...at the drop of a hat! More likely than not, many have asked us to pray either for them directly, or someone/something they care about. The natural human reaction is to agree to pray for them....and THEN FORGET TO DO IT!

It is not that we mean to forget! We just do! How many times we have forgotten to pray for someone, after being specifically asked and then seeing an email on the prayer chain or something, that there may have been some kind of update...and we had no part in it!

After years of doing this, I got so disgusted with myself that I would begin to pray IMMEDIATELY after being asked to do so...and if the person is agreeable, I would lay hands on them (by permission only) and pray Jesus into the situation. In the rare case...and again by permission only, I would make the person aware that I have holy oil available if they so desire. I have seen intercessory prayer for immediate healing work, well immediately, when we anointed a heavy hitter speaker at a huge national conference, where I was a prayer minister and this man looked like he had just discharged himself from the hospital, against his doctor's wishes. Prayer works!

My wife and I constantly pray for the salvation of our yet to be born children's children and any generation to follow, should Jesus tarry. While our church, like most American churches, do not have prayer services, nothing should stop us from walking and talking with God at anytime during the day....and not just at meal time etc. One thing we have taught our kids to do is to pray for the person in an ambulance which is racing towards the hospital.

This brings me to something which has burdened me for quite a few years and more so as summer approaches.  More and more people are splurging on fast and expensive motorcycles, despite the high price of gas and the bad economy. This has led to more tragic accidents with massive loss of life, limb and in case of survival - paralysis or long periods of recovery due to broken bones etc.  In the name of "you can't tell me what to do", more and more folks are also riding bikes without helmets. As a non-motorcycle enthusiast, it is still a scary thing watching some of the driving on busy interstate highways and streets daily!

In the past two years alone, entire couples have been lost in their late 40's or early 50's...or even younger, due to accidents, where caution could have avoided all of this. Therefore, if I can do anything about it, I do. For a couple years now, while motorists seem to avoid driving behind a motorcyclist, I stay directly behind them and pray God's protection over them and their safety while on that machine. The goal is to pray a protective zone around these guys. They don't know me from Adam and vice versa....it's just something that we do.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUIRKY PRAYER HABITS LIKE THESE, WOULD YOU SHARE THEM WITH US, PLEASE?  THANK YOU AND MAY THE LORD PLACE A HEDGE OF PROTECTION AROUND EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US THIS DAY AND THE NEXT, IN JESUS' STRONG AND MIGHTY AND HOLY NAME, AMEN.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere....Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)
