THINK ON THESE THINGS - SATURDAY

TRUE CHRISTIAN HUMILITY....to love like Jesus!
Humility is the essence of being a Christian!  Humility means a disposition to be patient and long suffering.” This sounds exactly like the Lord Jesus!

In the natural, true Christian Humility can be misinterpreted as a license for some folks to walk all over one another. However, it behooves us to note that the best spirit-filled and powerful child of God is one who is first a humble servant….in spite of how we are treated by the world!

Philippians 2: 14-5 (ESV) says “ So, if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in HUMILITY count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.”

There are many sermons tied up in these five verses, but please note a few things about this beautiful passage:
1. Humility begins with Christ (vs. 1)
2. Humility is having a fullness of joy and compassion and love to one another (vs. 2)
3. Humility is other- specific and oriented rather than self-focused (vs. 3)
4. Humility is caring for another's interests, feelings and well-being (vs. 4)
5. Humility ends with Christ (vs. 5)

Humility begins and ends with Christ – the Alpha and Omega. He is the Perfect Example of the God-man, Who, though equal to God, obeyed the Will of our Father in Heaven and lived the simple, obedient life…a life of humility. We are called to do likewise.

The Great South African author and preacher of the early 1900’s, Andrew Murray had this to say about humility "(it) is perfect quietness of heart....it is to have a blessed home in the Lord, where I can go in and shut the door and kneel to my Father in secret, and be at peace as in a deep sea of calmness when all around and above is trouble."
WOW!!
