THE 3:16 VERSES OF THE BIBLE, PART 17: "CHRISTIAN LIVING IN A CORRUPT WORLD"

16  Moreover, the Lord said, “Because the daughters of Zion are proud and walk with heads held high and seductive eyes, and go along with mincing steps and tinkle the bangles on their feet. 17 Therefore the Lord will afflict the scalp of the daughters of Zion with scabs, and the Lord will make their foreheads bare.” (Isaiah 3:16-17).
There really is nothing new under the sun. The decadent unsavory lifestyle in a "Keeping up with the Kardashians" celebrity culture may be amplified because of today's 24/7/365 second by second LIVE action existence. It may even be more outrageous than anything ever seen. However the seeds of this self-destructive conduct existed 4000, 3000 years ago, 2000 years ago and if the Lord tarries, will increase in outrageous depths of decadence 50 years from now.

The conditions which led the Lord to declare complete judgment on EVERY single aspect of human urban life across Judah (where the great city of Jerusalem was/is) are also not dissimilar to modern times. The pagan idolatry, and its subsequent sexual immorality, the pride and lack of any discernment were as present then as it is now. Most of what happens today, in some of the vilest corners of worldwide social media, has its roots in the Tower of Babel. It was here that a famous descendant of Noah - a man named Nimrod, constructed one of the first pagan temple with its immoral conduct right in the open skies. This was a major reason for the Lord to scatter the people, create all the languages we have today and deal harshly with the pride of man.

From this verse, we see that God despises the Proud. Throughout Scripture, and thus in our own lives, we know that He gives grace to the Humble. Today, the self-absorbed, selfish culture tells us that "it is all about us". It is all about how we look, how we feel, and how we deserve the best - no matter the cost. There is a huge cost to this creation of coastal advertising agencies, Hollywood and New York board rooms and its associated forms of electronic and print media.

Never before have entire industries sprung up to bring back the lost fountain of youth. People inject botox and other temporary additives, designed to make people look good, into parts of their bodies where it has no business being. Botox is a bacterial toxin. Yes, it is as unhealthy as it sounds. People will go to all kinds of extremes to as God says hold "their heads high...and seductive eyes", with their costly designer clothing and jewelry etc.

They must have the latest and best smartphones and other electronic gadgetry which is about as valuable as the passing wind, until the next update. While all this is going on...while they expose their private lives (and bodies) to gain fame, popularity and millions of followers on the various social media, their hearts are as dark as their empty souls. They have no concept of the judgment and accountability that is to come. Even worse, they do not seem to care and in fact, mock those who live by the Code of Christ.

But it is not just the rich and famous, but those whom they influence among the general population. These are the regular folks who take some of this stuff and ruin their lives, until the Lord also brings the hammer down on them, as He says here in Isaiah 3 verse 17. These are the ones who will say to themselves "hey, I am not as bad as so and so....or if they can do it, so can I!"

They have not heard the lesson of the Lord Jesus, Who when told that the Tower of Siloam had collapsed and 18 people died, told His disciples who asked if He didn't care about this accident: "4 Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam collapsed on them: Do you think that they were more sinful than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” (Luke 13:4-5). What Jesus is saying is actually full of love, compassion and care for us. He is saying that first, nothing is promised to us, but if the hour comes when our soul is demanded of us, by God, we will have been forgiven by God and have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives". The repentance Christ speaks of, is the one which is full of Godly sorrow which leads to Salvation. However the so-called beautiful people, which Entertainment Tonight or the Today Show celebrates do not get this, to their eternal loss. Today, we see the fruits of such conduct and lack of wisdom, in all the scandals surrounding the coming collapse of the entire Hollywood Roman Empire,

What can we learn, even from those who are falling like cheap bowling pins on a Saturday afternoon in a Midwestern bowling alley, all over Hollywood, New York and London? They are no different from those whom the Lord condemns in these verses from Isaiah 3:16-17. It will behoove us to learn the following lessons from Scripture and to start flying right, as soon as possible. We avoid final judgment in those two major ways:

1. Make the main thing, the main thing. We were not put here on this planet, for however long God allows us, so we can long for "likes" on Facebook and Instagram, but that our lives should be a pleasing one to our Creator. That can only happen when we come to the realization that we were created for good works, which can only be meaningful if we are forgiven sons and daughters of Yahweh - the Holy One of Israel. We must believe the Gospel, turn from our sin and believe that Jesus is Lord.

2. When we have become Christians - by the act of confessing with our hearts and believing in our hearts that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, our conduct must show it. No longer can we sin without conscience as we once did before conversion to Christ.  God has shown us in various parts of His Word but has chosen this passage to drive it home:
13 ... live in peace with one another.
14 We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people
16 Rejoice always;
17 pray without ceasing
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
19 Do not quench the Spirit;
20 do not despise prophetic utterances.
21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
22 abstain from every form of evil.
(1 Thessalonians 5:13-22)

THE 3:16 VERSES OF THE BIBLE, PART 12: "THE BEAUTY IS IN THE DETAILS"

He made chains in the inner sanctuary and placed them on the tops of the pillars; and he made one hundred pomegranates and placed them on the chains (2 Chronicles 3:16)
Almost anyone, from any walk of life, marvels at the intricate pattern of colors at the creation of an intricately detailed and beautiful butterfly from a caterpillar, or the rugged majesty of a bald eagle in flight. Both creatures emanate from the unfathomable mind and creative powers of Almighty God. He has made everything in its season, according to the purposes of His Will, according to His Love, Grace and Mercy.

Words are not enough to describe or define the Mind and Methods of the Great God of Heaven Who is Eternal, not created and has always lived forever. There is no way to wrap our puny little minds around just Who He is; How Powerful He is and How Majestic He is.
He is to be feared.
He is to be revered.
He is to be loved.
He is to be worshipped.
He is loved.
He is to be obeyed.
He is to fully sold out and committed to -willingly.
He is God.
(To read just a brief glimpse of behind the scenes with God @ Creation” – (CLICK HERE AND READ JOB CHAPTERS 38-41)

This God of Heaven never leaves His created children guessing as to how we should conduct ourselves (see: All of the Bible). He is also very meticulous about how He wants certain things done, made and the instruction is ALWAYS down to the last details. The popular (to the world) cliché of the "devil behind in the details" could not be MORE wrong. GOD is in the details. He is very specific in how we should live - from the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 to how we can keep our thoughts clear, clean and culture-enhancing, in Philippians 4:8. When Moses spoke with God about the desert Tabernacle, Moses was told: "Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you" (Exodus 25:9). Then in the chapters that follow, the pattern details were filled in.

Here in 2 Chronicles 3, the great king Solomon is putting the final touches on the most magnificent temple or church ever built in human history and they are the epitome of artistic creation and beauty. If you read the entire chapter (here), you will notice the full attention paid to measurements, the appropriate color to use as well as the items, which comprise the detailing of each portion of the construction. It is like the best contractor one can think of who builds your dream house, then uses the most exquisite trim to set off the room, which he or she has just put up for you.
The choice of pomegranates is particularly interesting. This fruit is full of many healing qualities which will be studied in detail at another time, but for now, we see the pomegranate mention several times in the Bible. It is one of two Biblical fruit which have special significance. We read in Exodus 28:33-34  that the images of pomegranates should be woven into the hem of the "me'il" (or 'the robe of ephod'), a robe worn by the Jewish High Priest. It is said, in ancient Judaism (where half of our faith comes from, as Judeo-Christian believers), that the pomegranate represents fruitfulness, knowledge, learning, and wisdom.
This is what we expect when we go into our modern temples or churches. But more importantly, these are the qualities which God expects from all this children.
We are to be fruitful not just in building our families and homes, but in our outreach to others. We do so with the same grace, love and compassion which Christ showed us, when He first saved us.
We are to be knowledgeable in all the Ways of the Lord by learning about Him. God Himself says that His people suffer due to a lack of knowledge. In modern terms, this means Christians are more illiterate about the Word of God – the Bible. This is not for a lack of Bibles in the wealthy western world. It is due to wanton neglect and the unintentional consequences of the last two generations of church leaders who promoted the idea that carrying a bible to church was not cool, and all the church-goer had to do was to read the verses on the TV screen above the preacher on Sunday morning. All kinds of recent surveys, from Barna to the Pew Research Center, confirm that only around 9% of Christians have a Biblical Worldview. That means the Knowledge of the Lord, His Ways and His Marvelous Attributes are unknown by those who call themselves by His Name.

This Knowledge is key to being the “beautiful trim” in the Kingdom God is building for those whom He calls.  The desire to know Him comes with being born-again. Knowledge of the Holy is what leads to being fruitful for the King. It is critical that we attempt to influence those around us who have access to 100 bibles a piece, to open them and comprehend. Even if most folks do not read these days, dramatized audio bibles make the Living Word come alive. Let us not give up or grow weary in the Learning about our great God and Savior. In this lifetime, we will never learn enough about Him. But we can have wisdom to process the little we know.

This brings us to the third thing which the Pomegranate represents in Old Testament times, which is and could be a huge benefit to us, today in the church age. This is Wisdom.  The dictionary definition of wisdom is, to paraphrase, a combination of good judgment and making sound decisions guided by experience….in so many words. Biblical Wisdom is a different kettle of fish. The Christian who seeks Biblical Wisdom has a big qualifier right off the bat and it begins and ends with one thing. This one thing is the Fear of the Lord.

We are not talking just about fearing what God can do – this is natural, even to the unbeliever or pagan. The Fear of the Lord is a holy, reverent respect for the Almighty, Who He is and What He has done.  This qualifies the believer to then seek and attain Godly wisdom which leads to understanding His calling.

We are called to walk in Wisdom, as in here: "Ephesians 5:15-16 "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil"

We are called to talk with Wisdom, as the Scripture says here: "Proverbs 16:23 "The heart of the wise makes his speech judicious and adds persuasiveness to his lips."

Finally, we are called to attain to the Wisdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Who speaks fearlessly, throughout the entire Bible. What does any of this have to do with 2 Chronicles 3:16? As Solomon laid out the beautiful pomegranates as trim to bring out the beauty of the temple walls, so must we, in righteousness, knowledge and wisdom live our lives as fruitful and full of passion for the Lord as possible. Amen.

PARENTS ARE ACCOUNTABLE TO GOD FOR THEIR STEWARDSHIP

Miley Cyrus from the Disney days, with her father
Nothing could be more obvious in today's corrupt celebrity culture than this fact. We see more and more unspeakable crimes committed by young people everywhere. The corruption spread a long time ago to what was once the wholesome Disney television network. You can't even let your children watch Nickelodeon anymore. TV Land used to show the old TV classics like the Andy Griffith show and Leave it to Beaver. The ABC Family channel has nothing worthwhile or family friendly except for the 700 Club from the Christian Broadcasting Network.  The most recent outrage, in the long line of outrages by former child actors and actresses, was committed by Miley Cyrus. She is the daughter of achy-breaky singer Billy Ray, who is still to correct his daughter's misbehavior, and thus, allow her to become more outrageous in the future.

But is this what God has in mind for us parents? The biggest job any parent can have is to minister, raise up and disciple our children in the Ways of the Lord, the Scriptures and accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. We are not supposed to be their enabler by giving them no boundaries. Modern parents, who were led astray by Dr Spock and modern liberalism, have fallen flat on their face and are in real danger of Judgment of Holy God, if they do not wake up and get right themselves.

God gave clear instructions for parents on how to raise our children. I explore these in today's message here on the PLUMBLINE TV show, as it is timely for what American parents are facing. Our pre-teens and even toddlers are bombarded by unsaved network TV executives whose only morality is the fat bank account! Please read the following passage and then watch the exposition of it, in the video teaching below:

Deuteronomy 6

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. O Israel, you should listen and [a]be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you,in a land flowing with milk and honey.

Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as[b]frontals [c]on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

THE MEANING OF LIFE: PART 2 OF 12

A CHAPTER BY CHAPTER STUDY OF THE BOOK OF
                                        ECCLESIASTES......CHAPTER 2
                                   "The foolishness of Pleasure-seeking"
"Eat, drink and be merry...and ignore what those wacky Christians say, they don't want you to have fun anyway..." - This seems to be the motto of America's corrupt celebrity culture and its "worshippers" who seek their fame and fortune and their own "reality show"! Never before in the history of mankind, have we had all kinds of infantile behavior from undisciplined teens and immature adults who make absolute fools of themselves.

The super availability of free social media has led to once privately held personal and/or intimate conduct which held shame and scorn, going viral on the internet and popping up on TMZ, Gawker or any of those that America's Most Clueless actively long to be on. Somehow, today, that kind of thing is laughed at and lifted up as some kind of virtue. These people have no concept of where they're headed and the accountability awaiting them for their pleasure seeking and drive to accumulate stuff- because this is how America defines success.

This is the focus of today's lesson from the book of Ecclesiastes - the foolishness and wasteland of seeking pleasure, chasing the latest gadget and auto or smartphone or...you name it...and the toll it will take on those who do that. Watch the less than 1/2 hour teaching on it then read the entire Chapter 2.

Ecclesiastes 2

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Futility of Pleasure and Possessions

I said [a]to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure. So [b]enjoy yourself.” And behold, it too was futility. I said of laughter, “It is madness,” and of pleasure, “What does it accomplish?” I explored with my [c]mind how tostimulate my body with wine while my [d]mind was guiding me wisely, and how to take hold of folly, until I could seewhat good there is for the sons of men [e]to do under heaven the few [f]years of their lives.

I enlarged my works: Ibuilt houses for myself, I planted vineyards for myself; I made gardens and parks for myself and I planted in them all kinds of fruit trees; I made ponds of water for myself from which to irrigate a forest of growing trees. I bought male and female slaves and I had [g]homeborn slaves. Also I possessed flocks and herds larger than all who preceded me in Jerusalem. Also, I collected for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces. I provided for myselfmale and female singers and the pleasures of men—many concubines.

Then I became great and increased more than all who preceded me in Jerusalem. My wisdom also stood by me. 10 All that my eyes desired I did not refuse them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart was pleased because of all my labor and this was my reward for all my labor. 11 Thus I considered all my activities which my hands had done and the labor which I had [h]exerted, and behold all was [i]vanity and striving after wind and there was no profit under the sun.

A GOOD NAME IS BETTER THAN RICHES

PART 7/12 ...OR CHAPTER 7 ON THE BOOK OF ECCLESIASTES
So many people are losing their minds in the world today. The Culture of Celebrity delights in building people up, only to tear them down. Many get to the finish line of life, only to stumble right before the tape - thereby blowing it all. We live in a time when one's word does not seem to matter...where up is down and down is up.

It is and was never supposed to be like this. Hence the reason for my indepth TV series on the powerful Book of Ecclesiastes for the weekly Plumbline TV show. I went through a chapter per show, doing into the major themes and exhorting viewers to read the study the rest of the chapter themselves.

Chapter 7 really spoke to me about a critical need for everyone alive today, about how to travel the highway of life. You can read the entire chapter 7 here after watching the next 26.5 minutes of a teaching on it
