J-FEST '13 - THE BEST

JESUSFEST 2013 (ROCK & ROLL HARDEE'S SPRINGFIELD, IL
(more photos to follow)
IN HONOR OF JESUS CHRIST AND BREAST CANCER MONTH (OCTOBER)
Chosen Generation Gospel Band (in part)
One of the major goals I have in bringing these free outdoor Christian concerts to various
Tamara Norville
parts of the city and the county in coming months and years is to bring the joyful news of the Kingdom to areas given up by the church, to worldly systems.  The first one, though too long by a few hours, happened in Auburn, Illinois in October 2011. JesusFest 2 was at the brand new SouthWinds Park (just on the outskirts of town) in October 2012 and the recently concluded JesusFest 3 brought the powerful message of Jesus to the South East Laketown area of Springfield.

IDENTITY from Bloomington, Il.
Future spots being explored are Petersburg, Rochester, Chatham and other parts of this big city of Springfield. The rubber meets the road...on the road. We can expound and pontificate from a pulpit on Sunday morning, feel good about ourselves and there is nothing wrong with any of this. However the Great Commission from the Great Christ was to "GO AND MAKE", not sit and take.

Evangelism and outreach are not just two words which begin with vowels, but the burden of every soul (or should be) who has been called out of the pit by the Great Rescuer - Jesus, when He saved us. This event went so well, that even the regional management of Hardee's was impressed by the size and tone of this outreach, under the most perfect sky of the month!
Evangelist Christian Rapper, MB
So many hearts were touched, we were invited to do an event there monthly. If I had the resources and could, I would do that, just to reach that part of the city which has the biggest strip-club between Chicago and St. Louis - Deja Vu! God alone knows how many people's lives - from marriages to the young women who peddle their flesh there - have been completely destroyed by this so-called "gentleman's club". No real gentleman will be caught dead in a place like that - EVER!

Rachel Ray,
American Cancer Society
Right off the bat, a wonderful saint in the pro-life community and the wife of one of my dearest brothers and a man I fellowship with daily went over to this strip club to pray on the streets surrounding this "establishment". Here is a partial testimony of what happened there, first hand - "I went to pray towards Deja Vu & when we parked in a place to purchase beer across the street a young woman walk out with a beer she had purchased...we witnessed to her & prayed for her about 30 minutes & it was soooo BEAUTIFUL!!!  The young woman walking to her vehicle that seemed so lost & sad left with a HUGE smile on her face & genuine "JOY"!! I love serving God & I'll pretty much go anywhere @ any time...thank you again!”

Monica Hay,
 New Life Church, Auburn
A young man who had trouble with drugs, came up to our ministry table ready to surrender his life to Christ! Christian Rapper MB (Zach Ayappa), and my buddy Bob Kennedy led him to Christ right next to Stevenson Drive! A young lady was so convicted, I heard that she gave up her will to do more drugs right in front of some church people who prayed for her. There were more people affected by the message and the music and the method of loving others to Christ which will have a huge impact for months to come.

BROKEN CHAINS CHURCH &
 TRANSFORMATIVE DRAMA TEAM
One amazing treasure was the Broken Chains Church (Corner of Monroe & Lewis Streets) of Springfield whose brand new Drama Team brought the Gospel of the Kingdom to life so much that it captivated hearts and minds big time. Those are the illustrations that stick with both the redeemed and maybe, soon-to-be redeemed, rather than 45 minute message on a Sunday morning! I wish to thank Pastor Brian Williams for bringing his team out and know we will have a long association with them as we reach this generation with the Truth, as the days of the End draw closer!

Thank you to Rachel Ray, the happy warrior from the American Cancer Society, for bringing hope and resources for breast cancer prevention and treatment to the event, and for returning to J-Fest this year.
Thank you also to the following for your heart and your ministry: Don Hunt and the Chosen Generation Gospel Band. Visit the Holy Ground Coffee House on Allen Street for more fine gospel music of all genres twice per month.
Thank you to a delightful couple of beautiful kids from Illinois College- Allan Miggins and Tamara Norville for their joy and excitement.
Thank you to Monica Hay from New Life Church.
Allan Miggins  & Tamara Norville
 from Illinois College, Jacksonville, Illinois
Thank you to IDENTITY who drove all the way from Bloomington, Illinois to bless us with their virtue and fun.
Thank you to the wonderful group ASHLAND from Greenville, Illinois.
Thank you to DJ Mayday and evangelist/Christian hip-hop artist Zach Ayappa (THE MB) for being there and such good sports!
Thank you to Rock and Roll Hardees management for allowing us to use the facilities and to soundman Oakland Morris (Oakie) for doing our sound, event after event.
Thank you to the best production team in the business – brothers Brian Powell and Bob Kennedy and to all who helped us get the word out citywide!

Business Men in Christ will continue to promote and produce these events as God provides and calls us to reach our city with the Good News of Christ, until He comes! Maranatha!

THE STATE CAPITOL COMPLEX - SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS
OPENING WITH PSALM 33
SENATOR SAM MCCANN CHALLENGES US TO PRAY
The Official National Day of Prayer Observance in the Capitol City of the state of Illinois is always a powerful time of outreach and intercession. Since the new era began in 2006, under direction of the Holy Spirit, we have progressed from a programmed prayer event to worship services in the past two years, to a full evangelistic revival type of atmosphere this year.
PASTOR TONY FAETH. SEN. SAM MCCANN (RIGHT)
This format does not follow any pattern of other cities and we stay clear of any politicians, unless it is the Mayor of Springfield. This is the people's event....and this year, the people supported it and came out in the largest turnout in seven years! Thousands more heard the hour-long event broadcast later that night on Christian Radio on WLUJ 89.7 FM and over the internet. (Springfield's Mayor usually reads the City Proclamation. If I ever have a politician praying on the platform in the future, he or she will be a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.)

SOME OF OUR WORSHIPPERS
FBC PASTOR MIKE HENDERSON
The theme this year was "ONE NATION UNDER GOD", but the theme I set out for Springfield was "What do I do now?" based on 1 Corinthians 14:15. This theme was fleshed out for days on this blog and on Facebook to the many hundreds who read and scores on Facebook who signed up as attending. The Holy Spirit threaded a thick thread of Repentance; Deliverance; Unity; Love and Salvation.

The revival atmosphere came with the preaching of the raw Gospel because we wanted people to know that they MUST BE SAVED not just to go to heaven, but to help others here on earth to get there. Also, just as important is this fact - God does NOT hear the prayers of an unrighteous (or unsaved) person!
AGES RANGED FROM 3 AND UP!
MANY SOUGHT SHELTER IN SHADE
PASTOR MERLE BUERKETT, NO MOUNTAIN TOO HIGH
The Worship Music was simple, rich and anointed without a rock band atmosphere...as I wanted simple and straight down the middle. The fellowship was even sweeter and the saints were loving on each other! The press ignored us, but who cares! Several Christian State Senators joined us, including my Christian brother and Senator Sam McCann.
Most of all, the Gospel was preached and several unsaved people I invited stayed for the entire program and seemed to even enjoy it! They heard the Truth, now they must ask themselves "What Do I Do Now"?!

THIS INDEPENDENT EVENT IS A MINISTRY OF BUSINESS MEN IN CHRIST.
OUR CO-SPONSOR IS CHRISTIAN RADIO FOR CENTRAL ILLINOIS, WLUJ 89.7 WHICH CAN BE HEARD FROM KEOKUK, IOWA TO BLOOMINGTON/NORMAL TO DECATUR AND SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS.

THURSDAY MAY 3, DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE@NOON

Therefore, if you wish to join some committed believers, prayer leaders and spirit-led pastors to pray for all levels of this country - and ANY country for that matter - and to pray for our children, and for our children's salvation and their children's future walk with the Lord.....if you are that person come on down! Grab some friends of yours, who are like minded and come sing some well known praise songs with us, hear the Word proclaimed LOUDLY from the Top of a public square and pray with us.
All of Central Illinois is welcome to the 61st Annual Observance of what America calls her National Day of Prayer. While we should be living breathing 24/7/365 examples of a prayer as Second Nature, it is good to meet
in public to reaffirm our ground as belonging to the Lord Jesus. We do this by praying for His Hand upon our Families, Communities and the leaders of each city, state and branch of Government.

Never has the tide of human depravity been turned so powerfully and deadly against Biblical Christianity; the Family as God ordained in the Book of Genesis and the Culture. For too long, the church played "nice-nice" with the culture, with a wink and a nod, while acting the part on

Sunday mornings. No more...no more shall serious saints lay down, go to sleep and allow secularism blur the need for Salvation, as found ONLY in the Lord Jesus Christ.
This event starts at 11:55am with a song "Open the Eyes of My Heart" and kicks off at noon for one full hour. You will not be disappointed and the Heavens will be praised! We are on the East Steps of the Illinois State Capitol Complex by the Lincoln Statue in Springfield. The street address is 2nd Street South and Capitol Avenue.

The National Day of Prayer Worship Service will be broadcast at 8pm Central Daylight Time, Prime Time, on Christian Radio for Central Illinois - WLUJ 89.7FM and its many affiliates. You can also listen over the internet at www.wluj.org ...again at 8pm Central Daylight Time.  May God bless you and yours and may God bless America and keep her strong! Amen.

THIRTY DAY PRAYER CHALLENGE - DAY 3

PRAY THE NAMES OF GOD

DAY 3:
God is infinite.
We cannot speak of measure, amount, size or weight and at the same time be speaking of God. Who can wrap our puny minds around this Magnificent God of the Universe?
Who has said to the waves "this far you will come and no more"?
Who has said to the darkness "let their be Light" and the darkness departed?

There is no yardstick known to man, by which we can measure God!
There is no government regulation devised by man, which can limit God.
There is no political correctness enforced by man, which can silence God.

Atheists deny Him.
Preachers lie about Him.
Sinners defy Him.
The wise decry Him.

The church puts Him in a box.
The world discards Him like dirty socks.
The educated mocks and mocks and mocks.
The proud one day, He will dash to the rocks.

But He is beyond measure.
You can't wrap your mind around Him.

You can't begin to comprehend Him.
His Ways are NOT your ways.

His Ways are what He says.
His Ways have determined your days.
Follow His Ways, or be lost forever in a dark, dark maze.

Today, read Romans 11:33 and PRAY this verse with us:
"Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

(Romans 11:33 ESV)

You can't outgive Him.
You can't outlive Him.
You can't outwit Him and you can't live without Him.

One day you will see His judgments and you will never understand it. But this much I know, if you are not saved and justified and made righteous before a Holy God, there will be no mystery as to your destiny....and you won't like it.

So if you wish to know the God to Whom we have prayed right here, right now,
Come to Jesus NOW.
Come to the Cross, NOW.
Seek forgiveness for your sins, NOW.
Repent NOW. Make peace with Him, NOW.
Ask Him to save you, NOW.
No need to walk an aisle or raise your hand, TODAY IS THE DAY OF YOUR REDEMPTION,
NOW IS THE HOUR OF SALVATION!
CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH, AFTER ALL THESE THINGS
BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS IS LORD
AND BE SAVED!

AMEN

A WORLD EXCLUSIVE by HOLLY KEARNY!

10 Best Educational Paths in a Down Economy

No matter where you live or what you work as, it will always be affected by the economy.  Every industry has its up and downs, but did you know that there are certain careers and educational paths that can be prosperous even in a down economy?  Everything from technology to healthcare has its areas of expected growth.  To prove it, we have gathered just ten listed in no particular order.

  1. Computer Networking – Because just about every company needs to build and maintain a computer network, those who know how are always in demand.  In fact, the growth for these kinds of jobs has numbers up beyond the 50 percent mark.
  2. Nurses – As seniors continue to age and people still get sick no matter what the       economy, experienced healthcare professionals are always in need, and nurses are among the most sought after.  The best prospects are for those with an RN degree and the career itself is expected to grow by 22 percent over the next few years.
  3. College Teachers – With the rise of private colleges, online schools, and more students earning a degree than ever, the need for teachers is also increasing.  The most in demand are teachers in the post-secondary, or collegiate, level.  Best of all, you don’t necessarily need a degree in teaching, just an advanced degree in the subject you would like to teach and a teaching license in the state you wish to teach in.
  4. Mental Health Counselor – Taking the same cue as nurses, as people continue to have troubles in relationships, career, family, etc. they will continue to need mental health counselors.  The projected growth for this field is 30 percent.  A degree in mental health is needed, but those who do not issue prescriptions do not need medical degrees.
  5. Financial Analyst – Even if the market is down, the projected growth for this job is up.  A financial analyst helps businesses decide if a plan, action, or investment is going to be feasible and/or profitable.  The MBA is a popular degree for this career, but a degree in business, finance, or related area can work.
  6. Veterinary Medicine – Don’t forget about the health and care of our furry friends.  An education in veterinary medicine is also recession proof and is expected to grow at about 28 percent.  Degrees or programs can be completed in everything from veterinary technology to medicine.
  7. Physical Therapy – As advances are made in medicine, this is one of the faster growing fields.  Both physical therapists and physical therapy assistants will be needed to help patients with movement issues.  A master’s or associate’s degree in physical therapy is needed for this field.
  8. Dental Hygiene – In the olden days, the dentist did all the work themselves.  However, there are now dental assistants and hygienists who do lots of the work dentists do without the expensive dental medicine degree.  Many programs are suited just for dental hygienists and assistants.
  9. Pharmacy – As more and more prescriptions are issued, more professionals are needed to keep up with the demand.  This includes both traditional pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and others.  The most common degrees for pharmacy assistants is an associate’s and the traditional pharmacist degree is still a graduate one.
  10. Makeup Artist – It used to be you just went to the salon to get your hair and nails done.  However, more and more salons are adding licensed and qualified makeup artists.  In fact, the expected growth is at 40 percent.  Completing a state approved licensing program is usually all that’s required.
