OUR FAVORITE GUEST BLOGGER - NIKKI HAHN!

THE TWITTER POOL

BY NIKKI HAHN

Twittering is the latest hot thing with editors, agents, and writers. I know because I am all ready diving head first into this new fad. There are rocks at the bottom of this twitter pool. Spam and porn jut from the bottom ready to catch your head on its surface. The water is cool and inviting and undeniably full of fish. Michael Hyatt, the CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers, wrote a blog about twittering. He says it is an opportunity as a leader to influence. I believe it is another way to shed Christ's light onto a dark world.
In this twitter pool, we are fishers of men. Christ called us to catch each one in His net of Salvation. Now in this twitter pool there are all sorts of fish; lonely fish who are crying for comfort; loud fish who are crying to be crying; some fish named Shelley Ryan that won't take no for an answer; disciple fish who are working to lead believers to lead others to Christ; strong fish and knowledgeable fish for the rest of us fish to drink from their vat of knowledge. It brings on the question of purpose.
Why do we write? Why do we live each day? Why do we wake up in the morning and do the same things every week?
If you cannot answer the above questions, it is time to reevaluate your life. This means you either do not have Christ as your personal Savior, or you have yet to discover His peace and purpose for you. Yes, you are just another fish in the great big twitter pool; part of the cry of many anonymous voices over a dark internet sky, but you are loved by Him. After all, His walk to the cross, His shed blood, was not done without purpose. He lived His life here on earth with purpose. He walked with purpose. He talked with purpose. Not a single word was said in vain. How many of us can say we do this every day?
Everyday we stare at the screen of our latest genius creation and next to the computer is a letter from an editor who says she wants us to cut out this or that from the story; she also wants us to bring down the word count. Yikes! Now this is difficult, but in literary fiction every word is used with a purpose. There are no frivolous little phrases flitting around in our fictional universe. Likewise, our lives have a word count way too high for the great Editor in the sky. We have to cut pride, immorality, temptation, hate, dislike, jealousy, and above all we have to honor our promises.
Terri Blackstock has an excellent book called, “Word of Honor.” It made me see Covenant as I had not seen it before and it made me remember the empty promises I made in the heat of the moment. My marriage to Tony is a Covenant marriage. This means I cannot simply divorce him unless he beats me or he commits adultery. This means it is a long complicated process to get out of my Covenant marriage by Arizona law.
Our promise to each other was made in front of God and witnesses that I would love and cherish my husband til death do us part through sickness and health. He promised the same thing. We have to honor each other. It's not hard to honor each other because we swore at the very beginning to put Christ first in our marriage. Our marriage is a trinity—Christ, us. There is no “i” in our marriage. There is only “we.”We cut away empty promises and we remember where we came from in order to recall no man or woman is beneath us. We think of the words and sentences we say and think about how they may impact someone else that day. We think of our actions every day.
This counts in Twitter, too. There are real people behind that Twitter facade with real hurts, real problems, real blessings, and real purpose. Twittering is more than just networking—twittering is a gateway to bring Christ's light into the human world.
The twitter pool is vast. I cannot see the shore anymore. I swim alongside other fish, learn from their experiences, share my own, and try to connect with other believers. I believe in bringing together the Christian world and throwing aside the false assumptions people make about Christians. We preach Christ crucified and His blood. We preach God's Word in whole, not talk only about the parts that are pleasant, but speak about His justice, His love, and His desire for us to grow in Him. We hate sin in ourselves first and in others, but we love the sinner. Our marriages are only as strong as our faith and devotion in Christ.
So why do you write? Why do you twitter? Why do you swim amongst us? Stoke the fire of your dreams throughout your life and do not let cynicisms diminish your fire or passion. One day the coals of your fire may burn bright and you may reap the benefits of your dreams. If your dreams do not turn into a raging fire, at the very least, you will grow old, grow in God, and you will look back with no regrets because you chose to live life in spite of its valleys and peaks. You chose to find joy there in spite of its heartaches. Someday, I will be in my Savior's arms and I long to hear Him say, well done good and faithful servant.

HAS CHRIST TAKEN ROOT IN YOUR LIFE?

Usige Ban Falls is an amazing part of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada (click here and watch the video). What is even more "WOW" are the many trees whose roots are all over the glacial rock that covers the landscape! Cape Breton is an island off the northeastern part of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, and home to a number of my old college friends (this photo was taken by my friend and fellow Acadia University alumnus - Lauri Ravenello Taylor...Lauri is a Christian and Economic Development officer for the Cape Breton local government. She is also project manager for the Christian Festival - ALIVE ON THE ISLAND). It is over 1000 miles north east of New York City!! So this is north, baby! Way north!

Scattered all over the park and its tremendous hiking trails are amazing trees like this with forms only God could design.....all with roots above ground!! This brings the Parable of the Sower to mind...which was my first reaction at seeing this:

Jesus said in Mark 4: 3-6 (NLT) “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed. As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it. Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it died!"

The seed on the rock grew.....just like these trees, but more is expected from us than these amazing trees! We are His masterpiece! Christianity is 100 miles wide and less than a half inch deep in America and most of the western world. Most of it was planted on rocky landscape with no hope of taking root, as self-deception abounds.

As the Day of the Lord draws even closer, by each fleeting breath, now is the time for each one of us, to reexamine ourselves. The Apostle Paul preaches in a direct command from the Lord Jesus - "Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you ; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith (2 Corinthians 13: 5 NLT).

This is the ONLY and best way for us to not only enjoy this wonderful creation and beauty of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia here in this lifetime, but to ensure we spend eternity with its Creator - forever and ever, Amen!!

THE FEDERALIST PAPERS OF CHRISTIANITY!

A most amazing find in a christian bookstore has me basking in the riches of His Grace! A few weeks ago, I purchased "THE APOSTOLIC FATHERS", a Moody Publishers' classic which is a compilation of the letters of the main "Apostolic Fathers", or the patriarchs of the modern Christian church.

PolycarpThis book is a veritable feast of what not only reads like Scripture but is direct revelation from God to men of God like Ignatius of Antioch; Clement of Rome and the great Polycarp of Smyrna! Polycarp (left) was the link to the actual Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. He lived from AD 69 and was a contemporary of the aging Disciple John. It is recorded that he may have been somewhat mentored by the Gospel writer and it reflects in his letters.

Polycarp was martyred by the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius for refusing to burn incense to the pagan emperor. While some books and internet sites give glancing accounts of the biggest execution since Peter was crucified upside down, the actual letter account is stunning!

What these awe-filled letters provide is the flavor and color of the churches left behind by Apostle Paul, John and others from the Jerusalem church in the well known gentile areas of Antioch (where we were first called Christians); Corinth and Ephesus. The very same struggles and problems Paul had to deal with in 1 and 2 Corinthians etc....Clement had to address!

What a treasure! Just as the Federalist papers gave the background and character to the US constitution, "The Apostolic Fathers" accompanies the Sacred Scriptures like a first cousin. Take a look at it here, research it and purchase it....it may take you a while to read, but like the Bible, you won't be able to put it down!

WATCH THIS VIDEO, THEN READ MY BLOG ON THE EMERGING PATH TO HELL BELOW!

No offense is meant to anyone who loves to read or owns a copy of the Message Bible. This is not about the Bible part of the Message Bible, but it's editor - Eugene Peterson. Sure, Peterson took too many liberties with mistranslating the Pure Word of God, but many have done so in the past centuries.

Here is what he said in "EAT THIS BOOK" (Erdmans 2006, page 44) "We want a spirituality that is world-embracing, all experience-encompassing.....We are finding out about the remarkable spiritualities in Australian bush aborigines....
HOW CAN WE BE SATISFIED TO BE PEOPLE OF ONE BOOK?!!"

Holy Book, Batman! Message Bibleman Peterson just said we need more than Holy God's Word for spirituality! This heresy is compounded by the fact that he seeks to equate God's Holy Word with the earth-based pagan religions of the god of this world! This is precisely what the Emerging Church movement is.

To them, the Bible is just a book of stories, nice stories...but "we need a fresh way to 'know God'. So they are okay with the faiths of other gods that Jehovah has specifically warned against from antiquity - hinduism, buddhism, islam etc....for the Emergents, it is all about "the Story". There is no doctrine, no moral law and no hell - ask Doug Paggitt from Minnesota's Solomon Porch.

So this movement, birthed by its guru Brian MacLaren and others see nothing wrong with gay marriage, abortion and other lifestyle choices...and are leading an entire generation of so-called "evangelicals" away from the faith. It is so bad that extensive surveys by both the Barna Group and The Pew Center for Religion have confirmed that between 56% and 57% of "evangelicals" believe there are other ways to Heaven than Jesus!

Brethren, the Exhortation from the Apostle Paul is to examine yourself daily to see if you are in the Faith. It is better to get this extremely correct NOW, because a day is coming when The Way, the Truth and the Life will say to those who call Him "Lord, Lord...didn't I sell millions of books or "preach" to Millions, or made many strange looking nooming DVD's in Your Name"?!

Matthew 7:23 "
And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'"

The Literal meaning of those final Words from Jesus to those who have a change of mind, when it is too late is "GO AWAY FROM ME, I WAS NEVER AWARE OF YOU AT ANY TIME, YOU WHO OPERATED AGAINST RIGHTEOUSNESS or the LAW or MY WORD.

Nuff said.

GUEST BLOGGER - NIKKI HAHN ON "WALKING IN FAITH"

Taking The First Step, Part 5
by Nikki Hahn
www.thehahnhuntinglodge.com
Taking the First Step is a series about how a person deals with trauma and grief in their lives. My husband has been a great emotional and spiritual support throughout this process. It's been two years and the healing is slow but steady. I am very lucky to have him in my life.

A scale can feel pretty discouraging. Although I do feel good about how far I have come in my weight loss, there is a weight that I cannot move past. I walk more, eat better, and have a better attitude about things and all of this I blame on God. In spite of my weariness from Crohns, I continue to strive for good health. I strive for good health for my husband and myself.

In March, the doctor’s office had a hard time reading my blood pressure. They took it three times. It is no wonder they thought it a little high. It happens when trauma re-enters your life. I was grateful for the love and support of my husband and family during this time. Sometimes, things happen in your life in which you have no control. This is where I should have trusted God with these things. With a crystal clear direction now in my life, I take each day and each step from that difficult period with confidence and trust.

Crohns is not an easy disease. It is not as bad as some with Crohns and there are certainly worse diseases out there. I am grateful to have Crohns and not anything worse. With Crohns I can still live a healthy life. I watch my diet most times, exercise 1-3 times a week on average, and eat more fruit and veggies now. My life is active, but it does have side effects like fatigue which occasionally slows me down. Recently, I had to get treated for a skin infection. A year ago I had to go the eye doctor’s office because my eyes were swelling. These are just little things compared to the things I hear from other people.

Paul went through his life with a “thorn in his side.” He asked God to remove the thorn, but God didn’t remove it. My thorn in the side is this disease. I can complain about it, sulk about it, or maybe just give up, but I can’t and won’t give up on this life in which God has blessed me. I figure I must be doing something right with all the mountains and hills in my path. Someone once said if the going is easy, you must be going the way of the devil. Since the going has been hard these past two years, I suppose I’m doing everything right in my life.

In spite of the thorn in my side, God has blessed us. We have a good marriage, good jobs and we are surrounded by wise people. Disease or no disease, preferred weight or no, God loves me. You can be a child of God, too. All you have to do is ask!

THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK FOR AMERICAN CHURCH AND MINISTRY LEADERS IN DECADES!

Already Gone (AG) is the most serious work on Christianity to come out in the past five years. Why? It is a warning to the church and us - fathers, husbands and men in who call ourselves Christians, that we have failed the next generation. Worse than the warning, it is evidence that modern church leaders in the Evangelical movement will be held more than accountable on Judgment Day!

Written by Answers in Genesis founder and well-known Apologist Ken Ham (with the research by C. Britt Beemer, AG gives us the bad news, for those even in our own conservative churches. The in-depth and wide ranging exhaustive research shows that not only are the kids sitting across from us going to leave the church when they get out of high school, they have already checked out mentally.

The numbers are worse in the liberal mainline churches. The analysis of the numbers show that Sunday School is to blame! Yes, Sunday school! I already feel bad for all the nice men and women who teach our kids there across America, but "facts is facts"!

Read and weep: 24.6%of kids in our Sunday Schools believe God used evolution to create humans! ONLY 40.8% believe Pre-marital sex is NOT right!

It gets worse: 39.1% of our Sunday school kids think they have become MORE anti-church over the years and 46.4% thing the church is NOT relevant to their needs!

These are just some of the horrible facts, evidence and trends in this most critical work in years. It is no wonder young evangelicals think being pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage is okay and live, vote, eat, read and think like this. The problem is not just the vile teachings of the darwinists and morally relativists in the public schools but people who run the seminaries where prayer is lost, discipleship is trivialized and modern apostates in the Gospel-free zone of the Emerging Church are looked to, instead of the orthodox masters of Expository preaching. One particular conservative christian college (well known) does not even believe in the 6000 year story of Genesis.

Here is where we lost the young - the book of Genesis where we see the Fall of man. Sin has so corrupted the church (which is a group of people who live in the secular world) that now the god of this world - satan - has deceived millions to turn from the Faith of their Grandfathers. I said Grandfathers, because we are still struggling with the sons of the so-called greatest generation, to encourage them/us to grow or become TRUE men of Christ.

Can this madness be turned around? Can we bring the next generation to an understanding of why they need Christ? Maybe. We start small - by calling every church leadership to account. Sunday school in most conservative churches have the lowest attendance for this same reason, even among adults. Only the faithful like us, who are proactive 24/7/365 go to make sure our own kids develop the practice.

I suggest, if you are any kind of leader in ministry, in FCA, in a church or just care about the lost, forget about overseas missions. God has His people for that. The biggest mission field can be found inside ALL American churches.

The sign over the exit door used to read "YOU ARE NOW ENTERING THE MISSION FIELD". THAT SIGN HAS NOW BEEN MOVED TO THE DOOR THAT LEADS INTO THE SANCTUARY! THIS IS SAD, IT MUST BE ADDRESSED!

Purchase "Already Gone", you will thank God you did!

CHURCH SILENT AS AMERICA GOES TO HELL!

Matthew 28: 18-28 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE):
18
Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

19Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).

There are two important facts to note in this Gospel passage:

1. Jesus breaks His silence (verse 18).

2. He gave a DIRECT command.

We see here that Jesus BROKE His silence. Since then, His church has taken it up! As American culture slips further into Sodom and Gomorrah type status, there is seldom or never a peep from the pulpits of America to warn the flock of the wolves out there and secondly to go into the world and create disciples.

The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found that over 57% (YES! 57%) of Evangelical so-called Christians say there are other ways to salvation (and therefore Heaven) than Jesus Christ!!! What are they learning in church? AND, do you and I still want to be identified as an "evangelical"! I will no longer call myself one these heretic sheep!

This explains why the entire US church suffers from the Sin of Silence. Because there is NO biblical moral and worldview leadership in most megachurch or even small church, the sheep (or the children of God) have no passion or qualifications to go out and share the Good News of Christ! When you combine that with rampant spiritual laziness, we find the Great Commission is now the Great OMISSION!

Many words can be written on this topic and outrage would be totally appropriate here. The correct response would be for the remnant ( the less than 3% of us in the pews) to take up the dropped ball and run with it in the other direction. It does not matter if we are starting at the opponent's 1 yard line with 99 yards to go to the endzone. There is no clock - just a direct command to obey - and a lifetime of mission to accomplish this, prayerfully and humbly. The good thing is God does not expect us to score a touchdown on every carry....all we have to do is advance the ball (in Kingdom terms) down the field!
