HAS CHRIST TAKEN ROOT IN YOUR LIFE?

Usige Ban Falls is an amazing part of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada (click here and watch the video). What is even more "WOW" are the many trees whose roots are all over the glacial rock that covers the landscape! Cape Breton is an island off the northeastern part of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, and home to a number of my old college friends (this photo was taken by my friend and fellow Acadia University alumnus - Lauri Ravenello Taylor...Lauri is a Christian and Economic Development officer for the Cape Breton local government. She is also project manager for the Christian Festival - ALIVE ON THE ISLAND). It is over 1000 miles north east of New York City!! So this is north, baby! Way north!

Scattered all over the park and its tremendous hiking trails are amazing trees like this with forms only God could design.....all with roots above ground!! This brings the Parable of the Sower to mind...which was my first reaction at seeing this:

Jesus said in Mark 4: 3-6 (NLT) “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed. As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it. Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it died!"

The seed on the rock grew.....just like these trees, but more is expected from us than these amazing trees! We are His masterpiece! Christianity is 100 miles wide and less than a half inch deep in America and most of the western world. Most of it was planted on rocky landscape with no hope of taking root, as self-deception abounds.

As the Day of the Lord draws even closer, by each fleeting breath, now is the time for each one of us, to reexamine ourselves. The Apostle Paul preaches in a direct command from the Lord Jesus - "Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you ; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith (2 Corinthians 13: 5 NLT).

This is the ONLY and best way for us to not only enjoy this wonderful creation and beauty of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia here in this lifetime, but to ensure we spend eternity with its Creator - forever and ever, Amen!!
